Tapping into a crowded space

THE ARTIST | BREWERY & CHOCOLATIER

SCOPE OF SERVICES

Brand Strategy • Brand Identity • Product Packaging • Web Design & Development • Marketing Design • A healthy amount of beer and chocolate tasting

The Artist is a Belgian artisan brewery and chocolatier bringing some of the finest craft beers and chocolates to Asia.

When Benjamin and Olivier, the co-founders of The Artist, approached us with the idea of creating not only a scrumptious line of Belgian handmade chocolates, but also a line of small batch craft beers – we knew this was going to be a challenge we had to take on.

The Asian craft beer market is projected to exceed US$200 billion by the year 2020 – a massive opportunity, but a highly competitive market to compete in.

So how does one stand out from the crowd?

AN IDENTITY BUILT FROM THE GROUND UP

Our primary objective was to make a statement – that it is possible for beautiful, deliciously handcrafted products to be both luxurious and affordable at once. We developed an extensive brand framework, working with the client to identify the most viable means to position their product line – and subsequently creating a full visual identity package to take their products to the market.

BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED & EXECUTED

Our design process is known for its attention to detail – but we took it to the next level on this project: from debossed signature monogram patterns on box packaging, to custom-designed bottle carriers for gifting (how do you elegantly hand carry 6 beer bottles?) As a new entrant in a highly competitive landscape, the products not only have to look great – they have to be intriguing at every turn.

BUILDING AROUND CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT

Our dev team created a robust mobile responsive e-commerce platform that allows users to customise bottles or chocolates with personal photographs, captions, and illustrations – and then delivering them directly to friends, family, and colleagues.

The central implied question that all of our branding and marketing designs go back to is: “Who is the The Artist?” From the product naming strategy – chocolates flavours are thematically named “Ms. Impressionist”, “Mr. Surrealist” and so forth – to the customized etched portrait illustrations on bottle labels: the answer is of course – anyone can be The Artist.
